Updating drivers on dell dimension 4550
Upgraded my Dell 4550 from XP Home to XP Professional. All fixed successfully by updating and downloading proper drivers but the last one - "PCI Input Device" still decorates my Device Manager.Tried to update the missing driver (as Manager says it is not installed) but couldn't. Tried to look for appropriate input drivers in Dell's downloads.Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.Does anybody make a 1TB IDE hard drive for the Dell Dimension 4550?I updated my Dell to Win7 last night and I realized that I don’t have any sound drivers or cards.Now I am in the middle when it comes to computers, I know allot inpuut not enough to find out what is compatible. Most times, you add a SATA boot driver when you install the OS to enable boot through a PCI SATA adapter.

He is something of a Dell sound guru–he has many thousands of posts on Dell forums, mostly with sound issues. Windows 7 Ultimate dimenxion Audio: You may find a sound card that will work for win7 if lnput look around. Grab the Vista drivers and use compatibility mode during installation.
Are there PCI SATA adapters available if 1TB IDE drives aren't made, and are there special drivers needed for the Dell Dimesnion 4550 for PCI SATA adapters? You will need to partition and format the new drive after it's installed.
The largest IDE hard drive I found is 750GB Seagate from New Egg, but customer reviews on it aren't good. That PC apparently has four PCI slots, so unless all are occupied, you should have room for a PCI SATA adapter. W2000 would be able to do that, or software may be included with the drive.
